This post presents a full set of Marksmanship Hunter macros designed specifically for the Sentinel Hero Talent tree. These macros are easy to use and deliver solid damage. Below you’ll find the recommended talent import string as well as a talent build image for reference in case the code becomes outdated.
Marksmanship Hunters, regardless of their Hero Talent choice, cannot simplify their macro rotation completely. That’s because the spec is fundamentally locked into a rotation where Arcane Shot must be used for single-target and Multi-Shot for AoE. To streamline this, I created an opener macro that omits Arcane Shot and Multi-Shot entirely. Yes, this comes with a damage trade-off (which I haven’t tested numerically), but it simplifies play significantly. If you want to optimize for maximum output, I’ll also show you how to modify the macro accordingly.

Opener Macro
This macro works for both single-target and AoE. It opens with Steady Shot followed by Rapid Fire, and resets every 3 seconds. The idea is to supplement energy when needed between your single-target and AoE rotation macros. When Trueshot is active, it helps you squeeze in another Rapid Fire quickly.
As mentioned earlier, this macro has variants. If your goal is maximum damage, you can split it into two openers — one for single-target and one for AoE. Just add Arcane Shot or Multi-Shot after Rapid Fire respectively. This pairing is crucial because Rapid Fire should always be followed by a focus-spending skill to maximize effectiveness.
Burst Macro
This is a classic burst macro used by nearly every Marksmanship Hunter build, even in PvP (though you may want to remove the trinket lines for PvP). It triggers Trueshot, places Volley at your cursor, and activates both trinkets as well as Tempered Potion if you’ve purchased it.
Single-Target Rotation
This macro follows a cast sequence that balances focus generation and consumption. It avoids lockups due to low energy. Holding any modifier key (alt/shift/ctrl) triggers Explosive Shot.
AoE Rotation
This macro functions similarly to the single-target version, but focuses on AoE. The sequence favors high focus consumption to push max AoE damage. The Sentinel Hero Talent tree excels at AoE, while Dark Ranger leans more toward single-target. If you’ve chosen Sentinel, chances are you’re doing Mythic+ rather than raids, so this macro is tailored for you.
Survival Macro
This is a personal favorite for survivability. Pressing it once uses Survival of the Fittest + Exhilaration to instantly boost survivability and restore health — requires two presses. Holding alt casts Freezing Trap + Disengage for a single-target escape. Holding shift casts Binding Shot at your cursor for AoE control. In short, this macro gives you three ways to send your enemies “back to the grave.”
