Patch: Mists of Pandaria Classic | GSE Version: 3.2.32+
With the Mists of Pandaria pre-patch now live, I'm focusing on leveling my Combat Rogue from Level 82 to 85. To aid in this, I've crafted a highly effective and lightweight GSE macro specifically for open-world questing and leveling. My goal wasn't to create an overly complex or "bloated" combat design; rather, the key was consistent mob killing and strong sustain. Below, I'll detail the recommended talents, glyphs, and a full explanation of the macro string.
Macro Overview
After importing the GSE string, you'll get one macro: "Combat_Rogue", which contains a single sequence named "Leveling".
The macro's core function begins with stealth (when out of combat). Upon engaging an enemy, it will use Cheap Shot followed by Slice and Dice. Afterward, it transitions into an infinite loop of Revealing Strike → Sinister Strike (x3) → Eviscerate.
I've integrated the effects of both on-use trinkets into the macro for automatic activation. However, I've intentionally excluded Killing Spree and Adrenaline Rush. This decision was made with MoP's frequent rare and elite encounters (for toy farming) in mind, allowing you to retain manual control over your burst cooldowns instead of them being automatically used without thought.
Keybind Modifiers
- Hold Shift + GSE hotkey (double-tap): Uses Redirect + Recuperate. This combination, especially when paired with Leeching Poison, significantly boosts the Combat Rogue's survivability, almost constantly keeping you at full health. This ensures excellent sustain and combat efficiency.
Talents and Glyphs
Recommended Talent Build: 32211x
Generally, the talents and glyphs listed are recommendations, and you're free to adjust them to your personal preference.
- For instance, **Nightstalker** in the first tier is also a great choice for faster movement and efficiency in caves. I chose **Shadow Focus** because rogues frequently open with stealth attacks, and I found it makes mob farming smoother.
- **Nerve Strike** and **Leeching Poison** both enhance survivability, so there's not much to add there.
- In the fourth tier, you could also choose **Shadowstep**, but I opted for **Cloak and Dagger**. This allows you to Flash to your enemy's back every time you start a fight, making combat feel smoother and more efficient.
- The choice of **Prey on the Weak** in the fifth tier is simply to provide increased damage, so there's nothing much to discuss there.
Recommended Glyphs:
My glyph choices are:
- Major Glyphs: Cheap Shot, Deadly Momentum,Redirect
- Minor Glyphs: Safe Fall, Blurred Speed
Among these, only the **Redirect** is highly recommended, as it reduces the cooldown of the Redirect ability, allowing for its more frequent use.

Update Log
- 2025/07/01 – Initial release
- 2025/07/02 – Optimized an issue where the Combat Rogue's skill rotation would sometimes get stuck.
- 2025/07/02 – I've successfully leveled my Combat Rogue to 85 during the MoP pre-patch and have re-tuned this leveling macro for even greater efficiency!
I've removed the redundant Sinister Strike uses, ensuring your opener now always results in a 5-point Eviscerate. While subsequent rotations might occasionally generate 1-2 fewer combo points, this is the most efficient way to level, as combat durations are often very short.
Additionally, I've disabled the automatic use of Slice and Dice in the macro, as it frequently wasted combo points. If you find yourself in scenarios with repeated engagements, simply hold Alt + macro hotkey to cast Revealing Strike + Sinister Strike + Slice and Dice once. The Glyph of Deadly Momentum will help reset your Slice and Dice duration.
Finally, Adrenaline Rush is now automatically used within the macro to boost kill efficiency. Killing Spree, however, remains off the macro; it's kept off-hand as an extra burst cooldown for elite encounters.
