Boom! Balance Druid GSE Macro 11.2: Keeper of the Grove

I have been asked by many players whether there is a “Tree Druid” (the Keeper of the Grove build). I don’t want to create a GSE macro for this build, mainly because it is very difficult for this build’s macro to be fully automatic. In real combat, various factors cause casting delays, which directly leads to Eclipse (Solar) / Eclipse (Lunar) triggering in the wrong order. On the other hand, it is not strong in 11.2. I ran Raidbots simulations (2-piece AOE effect), and Keeper of the Grove was 4% lower; with higher item levels this gap widens further, so both theory (simulation) and practice (macro adaptation) favor Elune's Chosen.

One question that players often ask is how Keeper of the Grove and Elune's Chosen compare to one another and which is worth playing.

Elune's Chosen looks like a much higher skill cap Mythic+ choice, and with the Elune's Chosen tier set contributing actual damage, Keeper of the Grove is largely off the table.

Of course, if you are not purely chasing a higher damage ceiling, but simply like the Keeper of the Grove playstyle, then the macros below are created specifically for you. By mastering the rotation and understanding how this macro works, the damage is still very respectable.

Import String

Importing the string generates “BD_ST_KF”, “BD_AOE_KF”, and “BD OPENER”.

Sequences and Defaults

“BD_ST_KF” and “BD_AOE_KF” each have one sequence. By default they will use the burst cooldowns Incarnation: Chosen of Elune, Force of Nature, and both trinkets. If you want more precise control over burst timing, disable Action Block 1 in GSE so they will no longer auto-trigger.

Single Target vs AOE

“BD_ST_KF” — Starsurge version. At the start of each combat it will cast Starfire twice to enter Eclipse (Solar), then cast Wrath. Entering Eclipse (Solar) the second time requires supplementing with Shift.

“BD_AOE_KF” — Starfall version. At the start of each combat it will cast Wrath twice to enter Eclipse (Lunar), then cast Starfire. Entering Eclipse (Lunar) the second time requires supplementing with Shift.

Because Moonfire’s DoT can easily fall off in single-target scenarios, Moonfire is bound together with Sunfire and is automatically cast in the rotation. In AOE it is not—AOE only casts Sunfire. In addition, Incarnation: Chosen of Elune is unrestricted in single target, while in the AOE macro it requires switching targets before it will be used the second time.

Modifier Keys

• alt + hotkey: cast Regrowth on yourself.
• shift + hotkey: cast Starfire (AOE uses Wrath).
• ctrl + hotkey: cast Remove Corruption on a friendly target; cast Ursol's Vortex at the enemy area.

BD OPENER

“BD OPENER” is a character-specific macro and can be found via /m. When you disable Action Block 1 in GSE, you should pair it with this macro for combat to achieve more precise and controllable burst usage.
