Macros

This article delivers a full suite of Protection Paladin macros for World of Warcraft: The War Within, covering combat rotation, burst, defensive, and support capabilities. These macros are built to be universal and work across different Hero Talent builds. I've included many of the key Protection Paladin abilities, while deliberately leaving out some—such as Divine Shield and Avenger's Shield—to be manually cast. This is intentional, as overloading macros with too many functions can lead to reduced clarity and higher operational pressure, which goes against the goal of simplification.

Core Rotation Macros

This is the primary one-button rotation macro for Protection Paladins. It casts Blessed Hammer, Judgment, and Consecration in sequence, with a higher usage rate on Blessed Hammer and Judgment to ensure solid Holy Power generation. It performs smoothly as long as you don't manually deplete all Judgment charges.

This macro also includes three additional behaviors:

• By default, it casts Shield of the Righteous when entering combat for immediate mitigation.
• Holding any modifier key (Alt/Shift/Ctrl) casts Word of Glory on yourself.
• If you're running the Templar Hero Talent and have already cast Eye of Tyr, this macro checks for Hammer of Light and uses it automatically if known.

As noted earlier, Avenger's Shield is not included to retain your ability to use it tactically—it can make all the difference in clutch moments.

Rotation Variant

This variant adds a reset condition to help manage Shield of the Righteous usage. It resets after combat ends, you switch targets, or stop pressing for 1 second. Ideal if you want to balance between mitigation and healing via Word of Glory.

Burst Macro

This macro opens with Avenging Wrath and Ardent Defender, then on repeated presses casts Hammer of Wrath and Divine Toll with a 1-second reset. Holding a modifier key activates Guardian of Ancient Kings for moments of high incoming damage. This macro doubles as your Hammer of Wrath key outside burst windows.

This macro supports your team. It casts Blessing of Sacrifice on your mouseover target by default. Holding Shift or Ctrl casts Blessing of Protection. Avoid Alt unless your keybindings support it, as default UI behavior might override your intention.
