Pyro Power! Fire Mage Macros for WoW: The War Within
Macros
This macro suite is tailored for Fire Mages in Mythic+ content, with the SUNFURY Hero Talent specialization recommended. I’ve tried many macro configurations, but due to the fixed nature of Fire Mage’s rotation and the randomness of passive procs, there is no such thing as a "perfect" macro. Every setup requires time to master. That said, I’ve settled on this approach. If you’re aiming for excellent damage output, please read the notes carefully—mastery is key.
Recommended Talent Code (ignore the Gravity Lapse issue; it’s selected to avoid choosing Lessons in Debilitation): C8DAJHMkDNl9e4q1zfgySSx9jPjhZzCmZMzsMPAMzMmGjxMDAAAAAgBCYmZaZW2mBAymZmxMDzYmZsYMzw8A2mZ2mxiZBAAAAAAAA

Single Target Rotation
AOE Rotation
Since both rotation macros share a similar spell sequence, only differing between Pyroblast and cursor-cast Flamestrike, I’ll summarize both here:
- They flow smoothly overall but may pause for about 1 second on the 5th Fire Blast depending on your gear.
- Neither includes Combustion; you must manually pair with the “Combustion Burst Macro” below. Use the burst macro first, then follow up with these for best results. Running these alone without Combustion will feel clunky—test it yourself!
- At the end of each rotation, they trigger Hyperthermia. At that moment, hold shift to cast more free Pyroblast or Flamestrike—this is crucial. Theoretically, we could hardcode them at the end of the macro, but the 255-character limit prevents it.
If you’re unsure what Hyperthermia looks like, refer to the image below—when active, your character is surrounded by striking flame visuals:
Combustion Burst Macro
This is your burst macro. Many players combine Combustion and Mirror Image, but that wastes a GCD due to Mirror Image. Here, we split them: without a modifier key, it casts Combustion + trinkets + potion. Holding a modifier casts Mirror Image alone.
Utility Macro
By default, this casts Blazing Barrier. Holding alt uses Mass Barrier for group protection. Holding shift uses Shifting Power for cooldown reduction. Feel free to swap out any of these spells for ones you prefer.
Counterspell Macro
This is a macro I recently created for arena—it works incredibly well, so I’m sharing it. If you’ve set a focus, it will interrupt(Counterspell) your focus target. If not, it interrupts your current target. If your current target isn’t casting, it clears target and reselects a new one, attempting another interrupt. Great for both PvE and PvP.
